Research

shimo's focus on research enables it to respond to changing industry requirements. Recognising that, world-wide, polyurethanes complement epoxy resins, shimo pioneered the development of polyurethane systems in India. A flexible polyurethane system for casting cable joints, to replace the less efficient epoxy joints, was first developed. Today, an entire range of polyurethanes, from very soft systems for protecting PCBs to rigid systems for casting transformers and switchgears is available. As an import substitution effort, a system for encapsulating electronic capacitros and other micro components, has been launched recently.

Shimo's scientists are not ivory tower scientists. Instead, they work in close co-operation with customers, solving their problems, improving and upgrading products, and evaluating the performance of new products.
