Mr.E.S Patanwala came to Bombay from his native village in Rajasthan and worked in a lab owned by an Englishman. Mr.Patanwala started a shop in Bombay at Abdul Rehman street, initially he sold Hair oils and Imported perfumes. Then he went to Switzerland and with the help of swiss chemists developed a Face Cream that looked like the snow in Afganistan. Mr.E.S.Patanwala on the spur of the moment named his new product " AFGHAN SNOW " in honour of the king. Today Messers E.S.Patanwala is still a privately held firm. With the fourth generation of the family involved. It is one of the few firms that specialises in the making of transparent bath soaps. It is the second largest maker of such soaps in India.
