Nirmala Row, like many other women, began creating clothes from her garage in Andheri, Mumbai, way back in 1986. But she's one woman who has managed to sustain herself through the different seasons of fashion, and has created a niche clientele for herself. Her USP then and now has been the same - fine embroidery and a flawless finish. In bangalore for her first exhibition of short 'Kurtas' trendy short tops and traditional Indian Wear, she says, " I noticed the opportunity to design and utilise the vast range of handloom fabrics, which are most suited for our climate. Matching my sense of design are a team of artisans who excel in the skill of all kinds of embroidery - 'Zardosi' and 'ari' being the most popular."
Nirmala's choice of colours appeals to women from all age groups, as she has the bright, summer colours, earth tones and the English tones of wine, rose, illac and lime green. That's probably why nirmala held successful exihibitions in New York, Los angeles, Chicago, London, Kathmandu and paris. She also has a range of exquisite silk saris.
