Pune university has established department of Ayurved. It is only in this university that a separate department is created for proper propagation of Ayurved. Main activity of the department will obviously be research in different basic principles of Ayurved and modalities of Ayurved with help of different other sciences. Multidisciplinary approach will highlight the treasures of Ayurved and make the oldest medical science useful to the society in 21th century. Educational department in university is necessarily for academic activities as well.
Thirst for learning Ayurved is increased during last few years and modern system is complete and perfect. There are lacunae, limitations and short comings. However there are some specialities of every science. Every system has its own way of treating patients in a unique method. Ayurved, a medical science in vague for generations together has its own philosophy, material medica theory of treating the patient. Knowledge of these principles could prove very useful to the practising doctor of non-Ayurvedic disciplines.
The science of Yoga like Ayurved is another Indian science, which can be very useful in maintaining good health and to a certain extend, can be useful therapeutically.
Number of institutions in European countries U.S.A, Australia are interested in imparting training of Ayurved, particularly the treatment modalities. They do not have official association with any of the statutory bodies. Department of Ayurved would establish official link between these institutions and Pune university, so that uniform and scientific traning can be organised. For this purpose certain certificate courses are introduced. Duration of these courses ordinarily ranges from one term to four terms, however still shorter duration courses can be designed according to the need of enthusiast. This 'CERTIFICATE COURSE IN INTRODUCTION TO AYURVEDIC DIETETICS' cover all needs of enthusiast, including better understanding of basic principles and properties of diet according to Ayurved.
AN IMPORTANT INFORMATION This course is basically for knowledge of Ayurved and diet. In no way this course will provide legal right to use Ayurvedic medicine or therapeutic line of treatment in Ayurved. The doctors completing this course will use Ayurvedic herbs and therapeutics. Keeping in mind various laws government medical practise of different countries and his own country.
